Beach volleyball varsity

Hi all,
I'm still at the pub, The Empress, drinking my golden beer (Ben choose it, I'm satisfied).
In the weekend of the 20th (May) the volleyball club organized a beach volleyball varsity against our beloved rival: Oxford. I'd never played beach before, as my experience (strong wind which blows your ball out of the field & speed like a tortoise due to the sand) weren't very good. However, the indoor season ended and I was willing to give in another try!
I teamed up with my Turnish bae Güniz, which was a match made in heaven, as we both agreed we were probably gonna suck real bad. We practiced only once before, which was not quite promising, but at least it gave us some strings to hold on to.. We left early on Saturday morning, in a not too safe ride (driving on private roads and going past the right exit), but we made it - eventually. My first game was around 11 and that wasn't going that well. The second one however, we improved massively and we were about to win..! Yet, a massive shower broke our focus and we lost the set eventually with 13-15. Around 4pm it started raining for more then 45 min, so while Oxford gave up (boooo) we Cambridge people stayed and we were praised with some final sunshine and some extra volleyball.
In the evening we went for dinner at Nando's, has an ice cream - where I was harassed by a lunatic - and after we went to a Wolfson bop (basically a student party in a college). Again I forgot that they always end at 1am, so we were in bed by 2, how lovely.
The next day the weather had cleared up, and we could play all day in the sun. Nienke came by for a few hours, so we finally could catch up again (and I could speak Dutch again!). We played volleyball until around 7:30pm, having a BQQ next to the courts and some beers. It was absolutely amazing!! I was completely exhausted, but it has seriously been one of the best weekends so far..!
I'm so happy to have joined the volleyball club. The people are all so great, definitely met some amazing people and made loving friends. Ok, I will stop being mushy (ref. Ben & Rachel (2017)) for now !!
