Jawohl Berlin!

Hi lovely people,

For those of you who wondered where I was going to when I mentioned I was in a plane: I went to Berlin!

While I am 'working' in Cambridge (no, really I am, worked 45 hours last week.. In 4 days...) my other fellow students are also spread out across the globe for their second internship. People have travelled within Europe, but also to the US and even Australia! Almost all my friends have travelled abroad as well (except for lovely Rebeca who has taken it upon her to make sure Amsterdam is still occupied by cool people ~ although she lives in Slotervaart... love you). Another reason for me to go abroad, BUT also the perfect opportunity to go and visit them! I've been to London several times already (Lucy), and back home to Amsterdam (Rebeca), but not yet to Berlin (Julie)!

So, Lucy and I already booked our tickets some time ago to see Julie again and to have a small break from our internships. The timing couldn't be more perfect, as everything was going to shit .. scientific/career wise ~ OK WE'RE OUT !

We flew Wednesday evening and made it to Julie's place semi-fast. She lives at FalkenstraSen (I don't have a German S) if I remember correctly, which is very central! The apartment was huge and she paid a very normal price. Even cheaper then my room in Amsterdam! Anyway, Julie had to work on Thursdays and Friday so Lucy and I had to entertain ourselves during the day. We walked around, went to a chapel, ate küchen (OMG, I do have an ß.. amazing), practiced our German and just relaxed at an unused airport to enjoy the 28 degrees!

On Friday we felt like we missed someone and we decided to fly in our sweet Rebeca, so that we would be complete again at last! On Saturday we went to an African food market, visited a Soviet memorial, and at night we went to an evening of 'Residents of Berlin' to get a taste of the Berlin nightlife. It was great! Less great however was to be home at 6am and getting up again an hour later to go to the airport ~ auw!

Considering we're almost at the end of our internship, and at the end of our master, not knowing where we will continue our scientific career, this was probably the last time we were all together.. At least for a couple of months! It won't be before November that we will see each other again and that feels very strange.. But I am not sad as I know these pretty girls are the best and no borders will prevent us to reunite!
