Arrival Cambridge

23 januari 2017 - Cambridge, Verenigd Koninkrijk

Hi all,

As cheesy as it might be, a small blog on my 6 months in Cambridge might interest a few people (presumable only family..., but I love you guys) so I will try to update it regularly.

So, I am quite settled at the moment. My room looks all fine (especially with my precious nut) and I have just done some grocery shopping at the large Sainsbury's which is only an 8 min walk from my house. Amazing supermarket, it's huge and has everything you need, perfect! I was only surprised by how expensive some things are .. quite random as well. But I got my humus and also very fine bread to that brightened up my mood instantly, haha.

Yesterday I went for dinner with my roommate Mirini (secretely named her Ieniminie) and her friends. All very nice people and the food was amazing (dumplings, omnomnom). And you could bring your own wine.. !! However, no wine glasses hahaha .. so everybody had to drink the red wine from a long drink glass - the amazing student life. After we went to a pub nearby and there we fell into a 'bring your own poem' night, how posh and stereotypical Cambridge whaha. Luckily they served beer too. I have to get used to the English beers .. they do not really meet up to the dutch standards .. but maybe I find a good ale during my stay here! Topic of the conversations was mostly political, ethical, and cultural ....  so you can imagine my enormous contribution ... not.... but it was gezellig anyway. Another important note: I biked to the dumpling place - yeah.

Tomorrow I will try to work on some stuff I still need to do for the university and I will have my very first volleyball practice! I have bruised my right thumb however, so I hope to be fine ..

That's all for now! You can find some accompanying photo's in the likewise named album.

Much love,

    Geniet ervan lieve groetjes,
Germaine en de rest van de familie
